Well, after a few false starts, Swindon can now boast 4G LTE broadband to both home and business users and it’s the first Borough wide offering of its type in the UK.
Swindon residents and businesses are to be among the first to experience high-speed broadband with no long term commitment required, reasonable prices and backed with a 14 day money back guarantee.
now Broadband announced on the 8th October the availability of its 4G wireless broadband service here in Swindon, providing many residents and local businesses with the unique opportunity of enjoying 4G broadband speeds for the first time in the UK.
This service is ideal if you’re finding your current broadband connection too slow, you don’t have a phone line but still want broadband, you don’t want a long term contract or you want to ensure you’re online 24/7 by having a back up internet service provider, then this could be the perfect solution.
A number of lucky Swindon residents are now able to take full advantage of now Broadband’s state-of-the-art wireless technology, which will help you get online in an instant, with no waiting around for engineers, no drawn out installation period and no phone line required, which will also save you the expense of line rental (currently about £14 per month).
You simply plug the nowBox in, turn it on and enjoy super-fast internet access on any WiFi-enabled or ethernet cabled device, whether it’s your desktop, laptop, tablet, mobile phone or any other wireless device.
now Broadband is suitable for home or business use with download speeds up to 40Mbps and upload speeds up to 5Mbps. From those simply wanting internet access for light browsing and email, to advanced packages for on demand services, gaming and business services. The new offering is fast and flexible with payment options from £20.83 per month depending on contract and increasing slightly if no long term contract is required. The service also comes with a 14 day money back guarantee. So if it’s not providing the service you’re after, then there’s that safety net (no pun intended) to fall back on.
There’s also the usual ‘Fair Usage Policy’ with no hard limits in place, but they offer the following as a guideline;
|Package||Busy Period Usage|
|LTE Lite||50MB per/hour|
|LTE Standard||150MB per/hour|
|LTE Advanced||350MB per/hour|
|LTE Premium||1000MB per/hour|
If you own a business and want to ensure you have a reliable back-up internet connection, or you simply want to enjoy super-fast browsing in the comfort of your home, this service provides instant connectivity. Just plug in and get online, it’s as simple as that!
now Broadband’s 4G service is available to a number of residents and businesses in Swindon. To find out whether you can benefit from now Broadband simply enter your postcode into the coverage checker: www.mynow.co.uk
We’ve not tried the service ourselves, so can’t personally comment on how it compares to the traditional services offered over cable, ADSL or FTTC / Fibre (which I have :-)) in terms of ping, speed and reliability. But if it performs well, it does seem reasonably well priced. It’s especially tempting if you don’t have or don’t want a phone line as you use a mobile for calls, meaning you’ll be saving at least £10 a month straight away on line rental.
We’d be interested to hear from anyone who has tried the service, or knows someone who has?
If you need any help with this service or any other broadband service or its setup, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with Technology SOS. We can also help you utilise the service by getting as many devices as possible connected on your network either hard-wire or wireless.
